Tooth Gem Bonding & Adhesive: the BLINQ® 3-Step System

Professional Tooth Gem bonding is not simply about using one type of glue. It combines surface preparation, primer, bonding material, moisture control, positioning and curing. Each step has its own function within the placement process.

The BLINQ® Tooth Gem Bonding System consists of three consecutive products: Blue Etch, Primer and Glue. In this category you will find the complete 3-step system, the individual bonding products and compatible application tips for professional use.

The BLINQ* 3-Step Tooth Gem Kit contains the three essential products used in the professional BLINQ bonding protocol for Tooth Gems: Blue Etch, Primer and Glue. The kit also includes precision tips and is designed for trained professionals applying tooth crystals, gold Tooth Gems and other suitable dental jewellery to natural tooth enamel.

Professional Tooth Gem bonding: how does the 3-step system work?

Professional Tooth Gem placement consists of several consecutive steps. Blue Etch, Primer and Glue each have a different function. Tooth Gem bonding is therefore best understood as one complete adhesive process rather than simply applying a glue.

A clean working area, moisture control, accurate positioning and correct curing are also important during application. Always follow the current instructions for use of the individual BLINQ® products.

Blue Etch: preparing the tooth surface

BLINQ® Blue Etch is the first step of the system and is used for controlled preparation of the enamel surface before Primer and Glue are applied.

Etch is an acidic product and must be applied accurately. Avoid contact with the gums and surrounding soft tissue and follow the specified amount, application time and product instructions.

Primer: the second step of the bonding system

BLINQ® Primer is used after preparation of the tooth surface as the second step of the 3-step system.

Follow the product instructions and avoid unnecessary contamination of the prepared working area with saliva or other moisture before continuing to the next step.

Glue: positioning & curing

BLINQ® Glue forms the third step. The dental crystal, Tooth Gem or gold tooth jewellery is positioned in the bonding material and carefully aligned.

Check the position before curing and use an appropriate professional curing light in accordance with the processing instructions of the system.

Tooth Gem bonding is more than just glue

The term Tooth Gem glue is often used for the material used to attach a dental crystal, but the individual stages of a professional bonding system do not work independently. Tooth surface preparation, Primer, Glue, moisture control, positioning and curing together form the placement process.

If one part of the process has not been carried out correctly, focusing solely on the Glue may not identify the cause. When troubleshooting, assess the complete bonding process and follow both the product instructions and the professional technique you have been trained to use.

What do you need?

New to the BLINQ® system? Choose the complete 3-step system when you need Blue Etch, Primer and Glue together. This provides all three consecutive bonding products within the same system.

Need to replenish one bonding product? Already working with BLINQ® and one product is running low? Blue Etch, Primer and Glue are also available separately to replenish your existing stock.

Need application tips? Use appropriate application and dispensing tips for controlled handling of the relevant products and replace disposables in accordance with the product and hygiene instructions.

Important when performing professional Tooth Gem bonding

Always follow the instructions for use, quantities and processing times specified for the relevant bonding product.
Apply Blue Etch in a controlled manner and avoid contact with the gums and surrounding soft tissue.
Keep the working area as free as possible from saliva and other moisture during the relevant bonding stages.
If the prepared working area becomes contaminated, determine in accordance with the product instructions and trained technique which step needs to be repeated before continuing.
Check the shape, orientation and position of the Tooth Gem before the bonding material is finally cured.
Use an appropriate professional curing light and follow the specified curing procedure.
Do not use nail glue, superglue or other adhesives that are not intended for professional Tooth Gem placement on teeth.
